About
Amanda Fogel Harwood, LMHC
Amanda has always been deeply fascinated by the layers of the human experience. While every person's story is unique, there are also universal experiences that connect us: our desire for connection, understanding, confidence, and belonging.

Why I became a therapist
Our mental health is foundational. Beneath the responsibilities, achievements, and expectations of everyday life, our relationship with ourselves shapes everything else: how we work, how we love, how we recover, and how much of ourselves we allow other people to see.
Amanda became a therapist because she has always been drawn to complexity: the reasons behind the reaction, the history behind the habit, the story underneath the symptom. She believes people are far more understandable than they give themselves credit for.
Before therapy: corporate America
Before becoming a therapist, Amanda spent years working in corporate America. This experience deeply informs her clinical work and allows her to uniquely understand the emotional impact of ambition, achievement, career pressure, and the experience of being a young professional in New York.

What Amanda believes
"The truest form of confidence and peace comes from understanding and accepting your authentic self."
Therapy is where that understanding gets built: recognizing patterns, making sense of where they came from, developing self-acceptance, and creating a life and relationships that actually fit who you are.
What working with Amanda feels like
Clients most often describe the experience as finally being with someone who really understands me. Amanda creates a supportive environment while helping clients explore patterns and behaviors that may be keeping them stuck. She is warm and relatable, and she is also direct. She will offer honest feedback and connect the dots between your history, your relationships, and what is happening right now.
